Challenge Date Change
We have changed the date for the Commodore's Challenge to September 6th. This is because the Alzheimer's Society are not going to have their fund-raiser at which the challenge was to have been held.
Apparently they took on a new manager who managed to get rid of all their staff before they were able to send him on his way. A new person has just been appointed to run the Stockport office but it left too little time and too few people to run the event.
Unfortunately we only just heard of this but it seemed silly not to incorporate it ito our regatta/open day.
The intention is to put on a static display of boats as well as sailing on the lake. We will be able to use the clubhouse for refreshments and the gazebo will house the display.
We will need volunteers early and late in the day to assist with erecting the tent and stands, and then taking them down. There will also be a need for people to be around the exhibition to chat to visitors and keep an eye on the boats.
If this is a success, it may become an annual event.

In the light of this the EMBC Committee held a special meeting and decided to draw a line under the whole thing. We have informed Lyme Park that we have cancelled or plans to go there in September.

New Event - EMBC Regatta
As a result of cancelling Lyme Park, EMBC is going to put on our own Regatta Day on Saturday September 6th.The intention is to put on a static display of boats as well as sailing on the lake. We will be able to use the clubhouse for refreshments and the gazebo will house the display.

Following discussions with officials at Lyme Park, it became clear that we were not welcome. They suggested that if we had applied as a new event rather than having a history of visits, our weekends there would be refused on Health and Safety grounds.Eventually they were saying that we might be tolerated mid-week in September with only a few members present.
