Club Night Activities

The club meets at the Etherow Sailing Club (at the far end of the main Etherow Country Park car park) on the second and fourth Wednesday evening of each month at 8pm.

If the evening is reasonably warm and light, members of the club can be found sailing boats in the hour leading up till the meeting. Often these boats or projects under construction will be brought to the meeting room and placed on any vacant flat surfaces so others can look in detail at the construction and discuss all sorts of issues.

Club nights are the ideal time to pick the brains of the other members because the chances are that whatever the problem, someone will have found the solution already. Tips and techniques are swappped extensively and people bring along plans and magazines to discuss at length.

Sometimes there will be a guest speaker - often a member with a particular expertise to share. A recent innovation has been to use the club's video projector, with a camera hooked up to it so that everyone can see the fine detail as a live demonstration of construction techniques is put on.

One or two meetings each year feature videos with a boating theme. There are also quiz nights, usually with a hot pot supper.

Other non-sailing events inc the annual Auction Sale, and the Annual Dinner. All the trophies won during the year are given to the winners before the Annual General Meeting.
